- Olive oil. Any neutral oil works well, I suggest avocado oil or canola oil as substitutions for olive oil.
- Smoked paprika. I love the smoky flavor of smoked paprika, but you can use regular paprika if desired.
- Minced garlic. you can substitute ½ tsp garlic powder for the minced garlic. You can also use jarred or freshly chopped garlic depending on your preference.
How to Roast Green Beans
This roasted green beans recipe is very simple. We’ll walk through how to roast green beans together step-by-step, and don’t forget to watch the video
To being, preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit – I find this is the perfect temperature to get wonderfully crispy green beans without drying them out.
Then wash and trim the ends off of the green beans. Make sure they are dry before proceeding with the recipe.
Next, toss the green beans with olive oil and stir until evenly coated.
Then, add the sea salt, black pepper, paprika and minced garlic and stir until evenly distributed.
* If using frozen green beans: Begin by spreading the frozen green beans in a single layer on a baking sheet and putting them in the preheated oven for about 1-2 minutes to thaw. Once they are warm then toss with olive oil and proceed with the recipe.
Spread the green beans on a large baking sheet in an even layer and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, stirring once halfway through.
Serve
Once the green beans are slightly charred and bright green, remove them from the oven and serve immediately. I suggest serving them with our favorite main dishes:
- Roasted green beans are a great side dish for Thanksgiving, serve them alongside the best roast turkey!
- We enjoy them with this meatloaf.
- Serve them with these baked chicken breasts, homemade chicken nuggets or this hummus baked chicken.
- They perfectly compliment this balsamic slow cooker pot roast.
Store
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. I don’t recommend freezing baked green beans.
Reheat in the oven or in the microwave.

Looking for something different yet quick for dinner and came across this recipe. I keep frozen green beans on hand and had all the seasonings so I was in luck. I did make a few small additions as we like things spicy. So I added a tsp of spicy salsa verde, a couple of dashes of Worcestershire sauce, some blackening seasoning. Put it under the broiler vs regular oven and the last couple of minutes added about a tbs or Kraft Habanero cheese. This dish came out so delicious!!
These are soo crunchy and soo flavorful. I could eat these all day they are just perfect 👌😌
Fantastic recipe. Easy and flavorful. I added chopped leeks I had on hand, which was great.
Exactly what I was looking for on a busy work night. I ran out of olive oil and use butter and even skipped the garlic to cut time and they turned out great. Excellent way to make a quick and easy veggie side!
Loved this recipe easy and the taste delicious I recommend using the smoked paprika !!
Smoked paprika is one of my top 3 favorite spices! 😉
I am seriously thinking about trying this with canned green beans tonight to go along with a yummy Italian chicken pasta. I don’t have fresh or frozen beans but I have like 20 cans so I’m going to try it out.
